Our aim
“We want to encourage our children to wonder, to ponder, to discover, to get excited, to laugh, to get messy, to be creative and to be active. We want them to feel valued and listened to. We want them to become critical thinkers and learn to love learning, and to share their experiences with their family and friends.“

Ethos
Alconbury Community Preschool is a small village preschool who care for children from the village and surrounding areas. Our ethos is to welcome all families and their children to our setting and our curriculum ensures that all children get the same opportunities and learning to ensure they reach their full potential. We offer a wide range of learning opportunities through theme based planning. The activities that we plan cover independent play and structed activities, taking into account interests and individual needs. Our curriculum is designed to help children to make progress in what they know, what they can do and how they learn. We guide children to develop their skills and knowledge to ensure they have a smooth transition to school, working with the local school’s, staff ensure we all have the same clear vision for the children.
Our Preschool
Alconbury Community Preschool was established by a group of local parents in the early 1980’s and was based in an unused classroom in the grounds of Alconbury C of E Primary school. When the village was awarded a grant from the lottery for a new Village Hall, the preschool moved to a designated, secure, and safe room in the hall, accommodating all the preschool needs. Please speak with staff if you would like to join the committee.
